Take a Ride!
Care for a train ride? How about a river cruise? You’ll find these at Gold Rush Days, along with stagecoach and wagon rides—even pony rides! Purchase tickets for wagon and stagecoach and pony rides at any Information/Ticket Sales location (see Event Map), and board at the locations shown on the event map. Purchase train ride and river cruise tickets at their respective boarding points only.
Food and Drink
Old Sacramento is known for its many restaurants and eating & drinking establishments. In addition, a special Gold Rush Days menu of delectable food and libations is available at the Embarcadero Tent City, including sarsaparilla. Mouth-watering BBQ and beverages can also be found at the Save Mart BBQ Patio and Live Music Roundup (Front & L Streets).
California Indian Exhibit
The California Gold Rush through the eyes of Native Americans. The exhibit “Discovery, Devastation and Survival: California Indians and the Gold Rush” has toured throughout the state. During Gold Rush Days, it is located in the Embarcadero Tent City, at the Stanford Gallery (next door to the Huntington & Hopkins Hardware Store).

Old Sacramento’s museums are open FREE Saturday-Monday during Gold Rush Days 2011, 10 a.m.-5 p.m!

Little Buckaroos Day at the Crocker (Monday)
Monday, September 5 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., you and your little buckaroos are invited to celebrate Gold Rush Days—at the Crocker Art Museum! (Located on O Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets, just south of Old Sacramento and accessible on foot via the Riverfront Promenade/O Street Bridge.) Dance performances, puppet shows, miniature horses, fun activities, games, and art-making for little hands. Free admission 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday only at the Crocker Art Museum.
Premier: New Film about Sacramento’s Early Years
Narrated by Timothy Busfield, “Rising Above: Building the Indomitable City” is a fascinating cinematic look at the forces, people, and events that helped shape Sacramento in its early years. Showing daily on the half-hour (10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) at the California State Railroad Museum, this is the world premier weekend for the 20-minute film.
Evening Activities
Old Sacramento will remain lively even as the daily schedule of Gold Rush Days activities and entertainment concludes each evening. Friday evening, enjoy a Pub Crawl and dining discounts. The Save Mart BBQ Patio offers live music Saturday and Sunday evening through early evening. Enjoy dinner at one of Old Sacramento’s fine dining establishments, and sip a drink at one of the many bars and saloons that the area is famous for—then and now.
Lost & Found/First Aid/ATMs/Restrooms
Lost and Found is located at the Old Sacramento Visitors Center (on Second Street near J, next door to Wells Fargo History Museum). First Aid services are at the CM&T Co. building, next door to the Eagle Theatre (on Front Street near J). ATMs are located at the Wells Fargo History Museum (Second and J Streets) and just south of the Delta King Landing (Front and K Streets). Restrooms are conveniently located throughout Old Sacramento.
